Chorister School's Under 11 Cricket team played in a national Daily Telegraph competition at Old Trafford last week - the culmination of a wonderful year for the school's sportsmen and women.
The Durham school's pupils have distinguished themselves at rugby, soccer, athletics and swimming.
The year began with the Rugby XV winning the U-13 County Cup competition, defeating teams from state schools and independent schools in County Durham.
Then the football team won the U13 Prep School soccer league championships. They made it a double football triumph in the five-a-side soccer competition for Cathedral Choristers at Ripon, with the singers beating the girls of St Mary's, Edinburgh, in the first round before proceeding to the final
The school's swimming team won the North-East Prep Schools' Swimming Gala at Darlington's Dolphin Centre but the biggest triumph of all has been in athletics.
The School won the Lindisfarne Plate which was competed for by seven strong Prep School teams at the Monkton Stadium in Jarrow where the Chorister athletes set three new records.
They followed this up with a runners-up spot in the North-East Schools Pentathlon Competition although the athletes did admit to being a little tired after winning the previous day's competition.
Two new records were set at another Prep School's meet at Clairville Stadium in Middlesbrough, which was again won by the school's athletics team while six members of the team represented the North-East at the Prep Schools' National Prep Schools' Athletics Competition at Stoke on Trent.
A school spokesman said: "This means the Chorister School's total of plates, cups, trophies and shields has seldom been greater which is a good note on which to begin the summer holidays.
