POLICE are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of a mental patient who may be armed and dangerous.
The public is urged by Cleveland Police to report any sightings of missing middle-aged David Robertson - but not to approach him.
The long-haired 44-year old - his hair falls down to the centre of his back - disappeared after visiting the Queensway Medical Centre, at Billingham, on July 5 and he may be carrying a weapon.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: "We are appealing for anyone who knows his whereabouts to contact us, but not to approach him. David suffers from a mental illness which requires medication, which he has not got with him.
"He may be in a confused and distressed state and may react in an unpredictable way. And in the past he has been known to carry a weapon.''
Anyone spotting Mr Robertson is urged to ring Cleveland Police immediately, on (01642) 302226.
Stockily built and measuring 5ft 6in tall, with blue eyes and long mousy brown hair, Mr Robertson was last seen wearing a green waxed jacket and blue jeans.
