JOBLESS people from the South Bank and Grangetown areas of Middlesbrough are taking part in a safety training scheme linked to the Job Connect project, a back-to-work initiative.
The scheme, funded by the South Bank and Grangetown Single Regeneration Budget, will give 20 long-term unemployed a passport proving they have completed safety training.
Those who complete the course will be linked with an industrial cleaning company in Wilton, which approached Job Connect to help it find workers for a contract.
Job Connect project officer Neil Walker said: "This training will enhance the job prospects of these residents.
"Health and safety training is an essential requirement for this type of work."
The training will take place on Monday and Tuesday at the South Bank Community Forum's training suite.
