A COMMUNITY COLLEGE is equipped to save lives after being one of three organisations in the country to receive resuscitation equipment.
King James Community College in Bishop Auckland has been awarded a defibrillator, worth about £2,500 by the British Heart Foundation. The college was chosen as two members of staff have suffered fatal heart attacks at the college in the past.
Headteacher Ed Lott said: "We've hit the jackpot really. We're lucky as a school in having one of these on site.
"We've organised for the local ambulance service to train as many people as possible in using the equipment."
The equipment can help to resuscitate anyone who has suffered a cardiac arrest and keep them alive until paramedics arrive.
