IT was a double celebration for the Raine family when mum Rosilyn and daughter Alison graduated as teachers on the same day.
Rosilyn, 48, has been awarded a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in business education, and Alison, 23, has achieved a PGCE in maths education.
It is not the first time the Gateshead pair, who attended Sunderland University, have studied together.
Last year, Rosilyn graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in business and legal studies, the degree that Alison got the year before.
Ten years ago, the tradition of studying at the university started when dad Barry took a physics degree and went on to become a teacher.
Rosilyn, a former secretary, said: "All three of us have now done courses at the University of Sunderland and it's given us all new careers.
Alison said: "I've been living in Sunderland so fortunately mum and I weren't in the same house while we were studying - I think that would have been very stressful!"
