Darlington keeper Andy Collett makes a return to action when Quakers take on Burnley in the Isle of Man tournament this afternoon.
Collett picked up a thigh injury earlier this year which forced him out for several weeks, but recovered enough to play a part in the closing stages of the last campaign.
He has been receiving treatment all summer and also missed the games against Bury and Stoke earlier this week, but manager David Hodgson has decided to give him an outing today.
"He's improving all the time," said Hodgson. "We feel that now is the time to give him some match practice."
Paul Musselwhite, a former team mate of Neil Aspin's at Port Vale, will make way for him.
"Paul has done well for us at short notice," said Hodgson, who will probably make a decision soon on whether to sign him.
Dutch striker Tom Kaak will also turn out.
"Tom is steadily finding his feet with the rest of the squad, and has shown some good touches so far.
"He's been playing up front with Lee Nogan, who has done very well. Lee will play a big part this year - he's more than good enough.
"We're trying to field our best side today. We've done all right in parts in some matches, but we've conceded a couple of poor goals."
But definitely missing today are striker Jesper Hjorth, who has stayed at home for family reasons, and defender Paul Heckingbottom and midfielders Steve Walklate and Mark Kilty because of injury.
Darlington's opening league game at Rochdale on August 12 has been made all ticket for visiting supporters.
A total of 650 tickets are available from the club shop on Monday and Tuesday to season ticket holders only, limit one per person, priced £12 adults and £6 concessions. Tickets go on general sale on Wednesday.
Quakers have arranged two more pre-season friendlies against non league opposition next week. On Tuesday they go to Albany Northern League club Norton and on Thursday to another Northern League club Ashington, both 7.30pm kick-offs.
Quakers have also been drawn against Dutch club Siol in the Minster Carpets Cup at Scarborough next Saturday, kick off at noon. Scarborough and Newcastle face each other in the second semi-final. The losers of each game play on Sunday at noon, with the winners contesting the final at 3pm.
l Crystal Palace have signed Neil Ruddock from West Ham and taken Finland striker Mikael Forssell back on loan from Chelsea for next season.
Former Liverpool and Tottenham defender Ruddock, 32, leaves for the Hammers for an undisclosed fee while Forssell, 19, is back at Selhurst Park after making 13 appearances for Palace last season.
Manager Steve Coppell said: ''It is typical of our ambitions that we are looking to sign players with Premiership quality.'
