A CLEVELAND solicitor suspended by a disciplinary tribunal is to apply for a new hearing.
Timothy Husbands, 36, of Petch's Cottages, Liverton, Saltburn, did not attend the hearing on July 11 when he was suspended following complaints about conveyancing work.
The solicitors' tribunal committee said Mr Husbands would have to explain himself if he ever wished to practise again.
Stephen Battersby, solicitor for the Law Society, said: "He has never really thought to explain what has happened, other than to say one of his files went missing. It is a case where he has buried his head in the sand."
He stressed that the complaints against Mr Husbands did not involve any dishonesty, but "persistent and prolonged failures to do what ought to have been done"
