A RANGE of suggestions has been put forward to breathe fresh life into one of Hartlepool's oldest areas.
Promoting opportunities for young people, creating jobs, improving community safety, boosting education and skills and protecting the environment are among the top priorities revealed by a major public consultation in the Headland.
The findings will help determine how £7.2m of Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) money, awarded last year, will be used in the area.
The findings will also help guide the use of a further SRB award of up to £10m if the funding is approved by the Government early next month.
In terms of the environment, the consultation showed there was support for projects to improve the appearance and image of the Headland.
People wanted to see changes to areas such as the promenade, around the lighthouse and the Manor House.
As well as ideas for improving road safety and parking, there were also calls for dog-free areas and heritage trails.
Derek Gouldburn, North Hartlepool Partnership manager, said: "The consultation produced a large number and variety of suggestions.
"Some of the suggestions are already covered by projects either in place or under development, and the others will be given very full and serious consideration."
The consultation was commissioned by the North Hartlepool Single Regeneration Budget Partnership.
