POLICE have named a man believed to have been killed by contaminated heroin.
Vincent Stewart, 34, of Dinsdale Road, Slatyford, Newcastle, died in hospital after being found unconscious at a flat in Kings Meadow, Elswick, in the city, on Tuesday.
Yesterday, two brothers who live in the flat, John Wilkinson, 26, and Daniel Wilkinson, 19, appeared before the city's magistrates charged with supplying heroin. They were remanded until next Wednesday.
Another heroin user, Fiona Hogg, 22, was found dead at her flat in The Willows, Cruddas Park, Newcastle, on Monday.
Police believe both deaths could be due to a super-strong, or contaminated batch, of the drug. The are awaiting the results of toxicology tests and in the meantime are warning addicts of the danger.
