Jim Allenby, a regular in the Durham City first team, performed well with both bat and ball but could not save his side from defeat by Hetton Lyons.

When the Lyons batted first and posted 102 for six Allenby returned figures three for 13 and Duncan had two for 26 while for the Lyons Lee Cowan finished unbeaten on 35 and David Sykes scored 36.

Allenby then scored almost half Durham City's 88 for three but his innings of 41 was insufficient.

Robert Day, Andrew Bell, and Darren Keeley all took two wickets when Philadelphia restricted Felling to 62 for seven. Jackson scored more than half his team's total making 33 before Philadelphia went onto win with six wickets left.

Former Durham City player, Philip Taylor ended with 40 not out and Graeme Onions scored 34 not out in Gateshead Fell's ten wicket defeat of Eppleton whose 78 for seven included 44 by Chris Hunter.

Philip Hudson captured four of the seven wickets for 23 runs.

Daniel Shurben, who is making a name for himself in Chester-le-Streets' Forster's North East Premier League side, again showed his potential when he hit a half century out of the Cestrians' total of 102 for six at Boldon for whom twins Chris and Alan Lamb both captured two wickets.

Although Philip Bell scored 40 and Mark Turner 28 not out, Boldon failed by 13 runs.

David Maughan slammed five sixes and eight fours from 70 deliveries as South Shields posted 172 for one. Ross McRay gave support with an unbeaten 41 and when visitors Burnmoor responded they managed 114 for four.

Whitburn hosted Seaham Harbour and won by six wickets when they scored a total of 68 for four after Ian Elliott, with four 14 and Paul Brown (4-21) had restricted Seaham Harbour to 62 all out.

Boddingtons Durham

Coast League U-15

Peterlee made the highest score of the night with 151 for five as they defeated Silksworth by 61 runs. Adam Maddison (32), Dane Wilson (31) and Paul Griffith (24no) all scored freely for the home side despite Robson showing up well in the Silksworth attack and earning three for 26.

Although Liddle carried his bat for 24 Silksworth could only manage 90 for seven with Kirk Winter capturing three for 24.

Jason Waldron scored 25 but South Hetton made just 68 for eight and lost by nine wickets at home to Seaham Park while Marsden had the edge on Bill Quay when both sides passed three figures.

Quinn (36) and Docherty (28 led Marsden to 124 for seven with Hussain claiming four for 13.

When Bill Quay replied Phillips top scored with 29 but when Mills returned three for 21 and Stoker two for 21, the home team could make just 107 for eight.

Jamie Greenwood was in form with both bat and ball when Dawdon defeated Hylton by ten wickets. First, he captured four for just 12 runs when Hylton were restricted to 81 for six which included 30 from Martin.

Greenwood then ended unbeaten on 26 and Ryan Consitt recorded five boundaries in 44 not out as Dawdon romped home.

Castle Eden's John Spellman was another youngster in top form in both the attack and in his side's innings at Boldon CA. He took three for 21 and although Gary Frater finished undefeated on 45, Boldon could only managed 79 for eight. Spellman then scored 35 and Richard Ede 31 not out in Castle Eden's match winning response of 83 for two.

Murton hit Easington by 117 runs after scoring 150 for four. Graham Hodgson struck five boundaries in 48 and Chris Howe had two sixes and six fours in 63 before Easington were all out for 33 when Kevin Mawhinney, James Watson, Graham Hodgson, David Scorer and Kris Howe shared the wickets.

3-D Durham County

League Juniors

Chris Guy turned in a good performance with the ball when Crook Town visited Brandon and won by nine wickets.

When the home team made first use of the wicket they were back in the pavilion with just 43 runs on the board as Guy claimed three for two in 4.5 overs. Punshon gave good support with three for 19 and then top scored with 20 not out in Crook Town's match-winning replying of 44 for one.

Patterson returned four for 12 to reduce Sedgefield to 63 but the total was sufficient as Mainsforth managed just 55 when Richardson claimed four wickets for 14 runs.

Tom Settle hit one six and six fours in 48 not out and Chris Dodds had three boundaries in 24 as Esh Winning reached 104 for four at home to Bishop Auckland.

The visitors were pegged to 84 for seven as Dodds took two for six in five overs and Paul Huggins had three for 23, also in five overs.

John Russell was Bishop Auckland's top batsman with 30.

Carl McGregor contributed 22 to the Etherley total of 68 all out as Tony McMahon and Mark Little both took three wickets for Evenwood who won by five wickets despite McGregor claiming four for 17.

Cameron Shield

Adam Tams was in super form with the ball when Chopwell hosted Greenside and won a low scoring game by three wickets.

Greenside batted first but were back in the pavilion with only 52 runs on the board as Tams claimed six for 21 in five overs.

Although Sharinda Ali returned three for eight from three overs for Greenside, Chopwell edged to their target despite losing seven wickets.

Sacriston won without losing a wicket at Burnopfield where the home team could manage only 53 for six against the bowling of Andrew Dixon, with three for 17 and John Prested, two for ten.

Martin Hubber then carried his bat for 20 and Dixon completed a man of the match performance with 35no.

Adam Ainley scored almost half of Whickham's runs at Annfield Plain when he scored 36 out of a total of 73 for four. David Brewis took two of the four wickets to go down for 20 runs and batting first Annfield Plain posted 72 which included 26 by Christopher Robinson and 21 from James McDermott.

Ian Stewart led Consett to a match winning 105 for two against Shotley Bridge when he scored 60. The home side were all out for 80 for seven as Cox and Kelly both took two wickets in the Consett attack.

Tantobie managed just 75 for six but still celebrated their first win of the season. Chris Baker top scored with 25 and Captain Paul Leighton added 15 while for Blaydon Richard Smith had figures of three for ten in four overs.

When Blaydon went into bat they were all out for just 45 as Leighton claimed five for six and both Chris Baker and Ben Johnson took two each.

After totalling 111 for four which included 40 by Halliday and 39 not out from Travis, Lanchester had just ten runs to spare at home to Lintz whose 101 for seven included 55 by Foster.

3-D Durham County

League U-18

John Carmedy and Martin Shoulder were both in top form when Esh Winning met Langley Park and reached 134 for two.

Carmedy carried his bat for 57 and Shoulder scored 55 before Langley Park replied with 78 for six which included 34 by Paul Caulfield. Ian Corrick had a good night with the ball in the Esh Winning attack and his economical spell earned him three for just 14.

Brandon had nine wickets to spare defeating Coxhoe whose 58 all out included 30 by Maddison. Tomkins had four for seven and Paul Johnson returned three for 12 for Brandon who scored the necessary 59 runs when Forbes finished unbeaten with 20.

Sedgefield overtook Willington's 95 for one with three wickets left as Hartshorn top scored with 28. When Willington batted first and made 95 for one, Clarke ended unbeaten on 41 and Moore scored 28.

Peat with 66 not out, led Mainsforth to a match-winning 112 for three in the game with Etherley who responded with 104 for seven which included 49 by Carl McGregor.

Evenwood were back in the pavilion with only 57 runs on the board and Gill scored 29 but all the batsmen were troubled by the bowling of Hill, who in the Bishop Auckland attack had the magnificent figures of six for seven.

The Bishops went on to win without losing a wicket when Johnson ended undefeated on 22 and Tait carried his bat for 25.

Pratt also scored 25 runs when Shildon Railway posted 61 and responding Ushaw Moor could only manage 50. The remaining game between Darlington RA and Crook Town was cancelled.

Foster's Tyneside

Junior League

Lintz made the highest score of the night defeating Swalwell by 24 runs. Batting first, Lintz posted 126 for the loss of just three wickets as Stephen Smith carried his bat for 59 and Paul Lumley added 34. The pair then went to work with the ball. Smith collected four wickets for 21, and Lumley two for 18, which together with two for 31 by Kevin Johnson, reduced Swalwell to 102 all out.

An unbeaten innings of 40 by John Chapman steered Consett to a nine wicket success at home to Shotley Bridge who were pegged to 76 for six and Whickham overtook Lanchester's 102 for seven with nine wickets in tact.

Chris Davidson was the match winner as he finished with a polished unbeaten innings of 71.

McPhail top scored with 30 on Lanchester's total of 102 for seven and Adam Cree was the most productive bowler in the Whickham attack capturing two for 32.

The Annfield Plain batsmen were in top form when they visited Burnopfield. Graeme Carr top scored with 43, David Newstead added 29 and Saki Khan hit an unbeaten 28 in a total of 123 for three.

Responding, Burnopfield were all out for 70 with two players making 50 of their side's runs.
