GIRLS are being urged to take part in courses offering them the chance of a sporty summer.
Hartlepool Borough Council is keen to promote girls' rugby, football and climbing, which have all been organised as part of the Sports 4 All programme of activities.
Two half-day football courses, for 11 to 16-year-olds, are planned for August 8 and 9, from 1pm to 3pm, at Brinkburn, Hartlepool.
FA certified coaches will be on hand to help the girls improve their technique and game. Beginners are welcome.
The rugby course, again for 11- 16 year olds, will be held on August 7, at the Brinkburn entrance, off Blakelock Road, from 10am to 3pm.
Expert coaches will provide an insight into all aspects of the game. Everyone taking part should bring their own packed lunches and warm clothing.
The rock climbing, for 12 to 16 year-olds, will take place on August 17, from 9.30am to 4.30pm, on the North Yorkshire Moors. Transport will be provided from Wynyard House, Wynyard Road.
All specialist equipment will be provided. Warm clothes are recommended and waterproofs can be provided on request when booking. Climbers should provide their own packed lunches.
The football and rugby courses cost £4, or £2.50 on the low-cost options scheme. The rock climbing costs £8, or £5.50 on options.
