THE chairman of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority has been re-elected for a second term.
Steve Macare was appointed to the position again, ahead of fellow authority members Jerry Pearlman and John Blackie.
He will lead the authority through the coming year, which will see the publication of the Government's rural White Paper and the arrival of "right to roam" legislation, giving greater public access to upland areas.
The authority will also be hosting a major conference, which is expected to attract about 300 delegates, in Skipton, in September.
Mr Macare said: "This year will see a focus on national issues that will have a great impact on this national park, with the spotlight being well and truly turned on the Dales during the Association of National Park Authorities conference.
"With a very challenging year ahead, I will aim to bring together the many views and opinions that are represented on the national park authority to deliver the best deal for residents and the visitors to this wonderful place."
