Boddingtons Durham Coast League U-18

A magnificent performance by Christopher Pringle earned Silksworth a big win against neighbours Ryhope. Pringle produced an unbeaten 123 not out as Silksworth romped to 188 for the loss of one wicket.

Michael Waterson also batted well in contributing 45 for Ryhope were restricted to 65 for seven when man of the match Pringle captured three for 15.

John Chamberlain was another batsmen in top form when Bill Quay visited Seaham Park. He scored 53 not out and Hudson made an unbeaten 23 and Bill Quay posted 112 for the loss of three wickets. Replying, Seaham Park could only manage 67 for nine as Andrew Trotter claimed three for 17 and Paul Bentham two for five.

Castle Eden overtook Hylton's 64 for eight for the loss of three wickets and Dawdon had 19 runs to spare when they visited Peterlee.

Batting first, Dawdon finished with a respectable 127 for three which included 26 by Chris Price and 23 from Andrew Gale but the top batting performance came from Shoaib Akhtar who against displayed tremendous potential in scoring 62.

When Peterlee went into bat they put up a spirited performance before being curtailed to 108 for six from their 20 overs. Johnny Auton, another batsman in good form scored 54 and Dane Wilson added 32 while for Dawdon Andrew Beer took two for 17.

Bob Hay Cup

Bishop Auckland will meet Darlington RA in the final of the competition after they gained a last-ball win over Sedgefield in the semi-finals.

After Sedgefield scored 77 for six in their 20 overs, Bishops needed two runs from the final delivery and managed a boundary. Aidan Tait was their match winner with 29, and when Sedgefield batted first he took three for 22 in a highly effective five overs.

Tim Dix top scored with 15 runs for Sedgefield and in the Bishops innings Mark Jemmeson bowled claiming two for six in five overs including two maidens.

Steve Flockett returned two for 19, also in five overs but the pair were just unable to secure victory for Sedgefield.

In contrast, Darlington RA romped home at Etherley with 69 runs to spare. Their batting hero was Paul Freary with an unbeaten 84 and Dickinson 23 in a total of 149 for two. Carl McGregor scored 51 of Etherley's 80 for seven while for RA Russell had the fine figures of three for 16 and Thistlethwaite returned two for 15.
