elderly residents in Boosbeck have sent a petition to Redcar and Cleveland Council asking for their unmanageable windows to be replaced.
The pensioners live in council-owned properties in Shepher Court and Fenton Street and 90 per cent have signed the petition to Iain Sim, the council's Director of Housing, asking for action to be taken.
The pensioners sent the petition to Steve Kay and Bruce MacKenzie, who represent the East Cleveland villages on Redcar and Cleveland Council.
Coun Kay said the houses were built in the early Eighties and have secondary glazing panes of glass, which have to be taken out for cleaning.
Coun Kay said: "This type of secondary glazing is difficult for aged people to clean without damaging themselves.
