THE happy youngsters pictured above let their fancies fly on the last day of term last week.
The 102 pupils from Our Lady and St Joseph RC Primary School, Brooms, dressed up in fancy dress to parade through the streets of Leadgate, joined by their headteacher Sharon Fenwick, dressed in a fairy costume. More than £500 was raised from the children's sponsored walk, which will go towards school funds.
By-standers watched as the children paraded in an array of imaginative and colourful home-made costumes that included a fighting Scotsman, dustbinman, footballer, Batman and even a Charlie Chaplin.
Staff and children at the school were also celebrating after receiving an excellent report recently from the Roman Catholic religious education inspection team following on from a good report made by Ofsted inspectors last autumn.
