YOUNGSTERS are being sought to sign up for a village football team.
Middleton St George, near Darlington, has not had a junior football team for more than ten years.
People living in the village are keen to rectify that, and are now looking for young people interested in playing the game.
Nine youngsters have already signed up, but at least 16 are needed to form a Middleton St George Junior Football Club, which would play in the Richmond District Sunday League.
Chairman Graham Clark said the games will be played at the village cricket club and that equipment is already in place for the new season, which starts in September.
"We have got the nets and the playing strips, and all we need now is enough young footballers to form a team," he said.
"They don't just have to be from Middleton St George. We would like to hear from youngsters in neighbouring villages, and from Darlington."
Any child aged 12 to 14 who would like to play for the team can contact club secretary Nick Jay on (01325) 263837.
