YOUNG footballers from Darlington put their skills to the test during a summer training event.
More than 20 girls and boys from the town spent the day improving their footballing abilities at the town's Abbey Road playing fields.
The six-week event is hoping to attract hundreds of children to the training sessions, which are held four days a week.
Youngsters take part in dribbling sessions, shooting practice and games, with prizes awarded every day for the most improved player, the best player, and for sportsmanship.
Darlington Football in the Community officer Kevin Stonehouse said: "We're hoping that we can attract more and more children in the next five weeks, and it is the ideal way to get the children out of the house during the summer break.
"There are prizes every day. It is a wonderful way to meet other children and improve your football skills."
