A TOWERING totem pole is turning heads in the quiet surroundings of Stanley Library.
The papier-mache pole was made by children aged nine to 12 at the Activity Club in the Derwentside village of Tantobie and will eventually be used for the Tantobie Community Celebration event.
The totem pole depicts the natural world with the lowest layers featuring worms and other creepy crawlies. The top represents the sky with butterflies and bees and it's all crowned with a bright green frog.
It will stay at the library until August 20 when it will return to Tantobie and be erected on the playing field as part of the Tantobie Community Celebration event
