FLOWER power comes to Gateshead this weekend with the summer flower show.
About 25,000 visitors are expected to go to the two-day event which combines floral design, arts and crafts and entertainment for all the family.
Among this year's attractions are the craft marquee and the first exhibition of contemporary floral design in the North of England.
The craft marquee will include demonstrations of wood turning and pyrography, the art of burning patterns on wood, plus a selection of wooden puzzle jewellery boxes, lamps and bird feeders.
Meanwhile, a group of enthusiasts from several North-East flower clubs are holding a workshop on contemporary techniques which are sweeping the floral design community.
Gateshead Summer Flower Show is being held in the central nursery, Whickham Highway, Lobley Hill, from 10am to 6pm today, and 10am to 5.30pm tomorrow.
