YOUNGSTERS have won a competition to create a mini-
landscaped garden.
The contest, organised by Peter Barratt's Garden Centre, Stockton, attracted children aged between four and 11.
They created their gardens in seed trays and the winners were chosen by visitors to the garden centre who voted for their favourite by donating £1 to charity.
The winner was Laura Grey, of Frederick Nattrass School, whose seed tray was inspired by a cottage garden.
A photograph of Laura's garden will be sent to London to be entered in the national Greenfingers competition, with a holiday in Windsor at stake.
Peter Barratt, of the garden centre, said yesterday: "We were delighted with the response to the competition. We are always keen to encourage gardeners, young and old.
"This competition was a way for youngsters to become involved at an early age, learning about gardening and hopefully enjoying it now and in the future."
