POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist's life was left hanging in the balance.
The 37-year-old cyclist is on the critical list in Newcastle General Hospital following the incident in Blaydon, Newcastle, last week.
The man, from Prudhoe, was injured at around 6.25pm near the Blaydon Shell garage, just off the Blaydon roundabout.
Officers investigating the incident want to speak to another cyclist who stopped to help.
This man, who was wearing a polo neck shirt and a dark blue tracksuit, phoned for an ambulance and gave his name as Dave.
Officers believe the roundabout was busy at the time and also want to speak to any drivers or people using the petrol station. They also want to hear from any people who were parking nearby to visit the railway club.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Northumbria police on 0191-454 7555, extension 66391.
