SELF-HELP has seen a cricket club celebrate the opening of a new pavilion after a long-running appeal.
Members of Scruton Cricket Club, near Northallerton, raised £30,000 towards the building, paying for a builder to do the bricklaying and put the roof on.
But the remaining work was carried out by club members, including laying the foundations and installing water and electricity.
And the pavilion was officially opened at a gala match which saw the club's juniors take on an all-star team led by ex-Yorkshire bowler Arthur Robinson
