A PAIR of solicitors are swapping courtrooms for a club by becoming stand-up comics.
Michael Laffey and Lee Fenwick leave behind their law books to team up in a comedy circus called Soup in their spare time.
Lee, 31, a Crown Prosecution Service lawyer, and Michael, who works for Thompsons Solicitors, in Newcastle, came up with the idea after a chance meeting at court.
The pair, who had been to school together years earlier, met up again at Durham Crown Court.
Lee said: "I had been doing some stand-up and Mick had been writing things like plays and sketches."
Michael said: "We got talking about what Lee had been doing, and to cut a long story short, we decided to do a show together."
The pair admit that many people would not associate lawyers with being funny.
But Michael said: "It doesn't mean that just because you have a certain job, you've got no sense of humour.
