A CONSETT soldier has spoken of the difficulties of keeping the troops clothed, fed and happy in Kosovo.
Army officer George Myers, of the 5th General Service Medical Regiment, Royal Army Medical Corps, is serving as part of the British contribution to the NATO-led peace keeping force.
As quartermaster it is George's job to ensure that every aspect of supplies is covered.
He explained: "The day to day job of myself and my team encompasses all sorts of logistic support of the unit, from feeding the soldiers and clothing them, to the supply of medication and medical equipment for the hospital and squadron.
"I am also responsible for the locally employed civilians. We have 65 of them working here. A lot are interpreters working in the hospital and they work over three sites. They are very, very friendly people, and they are very grateful for what NATO and the UN have done.
"They are also very grateful to have a job. I find them very approachable and very willing, hard workers," said George
