THE Acorn Trust is asking car owners to get their fuel at any Fina garage and put points on the trust's loyalty card.
The trust, a charity, works in Derwentside to help residents, community groups, schools and businesses look after their environment. It is hoping to raise the full cost to buy and insure a second-hand 12ft by 24ft marquee through the Fina points scheme.
As part of its work the trust attend many shows and festivals and stage events to encourage people to become involved and to highlight its work.
On these occasions, the trust puts up displays of their projects and runs children's activities and often need some protection from the rain and the wind - hence the need for a marquee.
The target is £1,500 and it is hoped to achieve this amount by summer 2001. One point is given for every £6 spent and the trust will get £5 for every 30 points collected.
There are collection points at Fina garages, at Consett, Burnopfield, Annfield Plain and Stanley or points can be transferred from any other card on to one of the the Acorn Trust cards.
