POLICE say they have received a number of telephone calls relating to the murder of a North-East woman ten years ago.
The calls have been made following the publicity given to the anniversary of Ann Heron's death.
The Northern Echo revealed yesterday that a series of new DNA tests are to be carried out on exhibits collected during the investigation.
This has prompted people to contact police about the killing, although officers have not revealed the content of the calls.
A spokesman for Durham Police said: "We have had a number of calls and each one will be followed up."
Mrs Heron was killed ten years ago today at her luxury home on the outskirts of Darlington. Her bloodstained body was found by her husband, Peter, at their home, Aeolian House, between Darlington and Middleton St George.
Police were frustrated in all their attempts to track down a sun-tanned man, aged 35 to 40, who was spotted driving a blue car at speed along the drive of the house at about 5pm - the time when Mrs Heron is thought to have been killed.
Police can be contacted on 0191-386 4929 or (01325) 467681
