A PROMISING drama student fears his dream of life on the big screen could be ruined unless he can raise £1,000 towards college course fees.
Adam Piercy, 20, of Darlington, has won a three-year scholarship at the Oxford School of Drama.
The cost of the £6,000-a-term course is being met largely by the authorities, but Adam still has to raise £1,000 towards the cost by August 25.
He said: "There is no way I can raise the money required in that period on my own.
"If I don't, I will have to take a year out and do a nine to five job to raise the cash.
"The Oxford School of Drama is the top drama school in the country and I don't want to miss out on a chance to go."
Adam appeared in Darlington Operatic Society's production of Crazy For You and has also directed and produced his own show for the National Student Drama Festival.
He has just completed a GNVQ in performing arts at the town's college of technology, and hopes to become a television actor.
