YOUNGSTERS from Dormanstown Primary School got musical as part of the fun-packed activities of the recent Book Week.
The event was support by BP Amoco Chemicals, with the aim of getting across the message that reading can be fun.
The week was launched with a visit from children's author Andy Croft. Other activities included book quizzes, competitions, book fairs, a theatre visit and book making.
The highlight of the week was a musical extravaganza based around the theme of pirates. All the children in the school were given the opportunity to dress as pirates.
To help build up the library, BP Amoco Chemicals donated books valued at £200, including a selection of Harry Potter books.
Carl Faulkner, deputy headteacher at Dormanstown Primary, said: "The books were a very welcome donation to our library and we thank BP for their continued support."
Chris Bennison, storyteller and manufacturing engineer, said: "The week was a great success and we hope all the children have lots of fun reading.
