AN interactive computer project designed to combat social exclusion has been launched in County Durham.
The Integrated Access Via IT project aims to develop people's information technology skills and to help community groups all over the county gain access to the technology.
Launched at Annfield Plain Library, the project was funded by Single Regeneration Budget cash and European money, as well as Durham County Council's arts' libraries and museums department.
The county's careers service and County Durham On-Line also had big parts to play in the project's development.
It uses the Internet and video-conferencing technology to link people and groups to services that they might otherwise be excluded from.
People using the service will be able to get careers advice and guidance on-line linking in to a video conference with the careers service.
A Durham County Council spokesman said: "Already 60 people from East Durham have benefited since the service went on-line at Murton Library, in April.
"This live video link can also be used to provide other advice services such as education courses," he said.
