fundraisers from the region are invited to recreate the maiden voyage of the Titanic to help Marie Curie cancer care.
The simulated sea drama and rescue will take place at the Marine Safety Training centre in South Shields.
Volunteers will be asked to raise either £75 to go first class, or £45 for steerage, on the recreated voyage.
First class passengers will be met by the Titanic captain and officers and enjoy canaps and champagne, while those in steerage will be entertained by Irish musicians and dancers.
Those who "survive" the voyage will be served supper, and there will be drinks for everyone after the rescue.
Ian Cullen, of the Marine Safety Training centre, said: "The college is pleased to associate itself with what we hope will prove to be an exciting and fruitful event which has been organised for the benefit of a most worthwhile charity."
The event will take place on Thursday, September 7. For details call 0191-382 3311.
