SIMON Charlesworth from Great Ayton enjoyed a double success at the BSPS Area 1 show in Cumbria when he clinched the small hack and championship and also took the Wembley ticket, writes Malcolm Bewsher.
He was riding Renita White and Jerome Harforth's Colbeach Starlight Express, while his mother Andrea qualified in the large section with the six-year-old Park Lane.
Amanda Wharton from Thirsk had two second placings in the cobs on Randles Town and Mister Fox, while Paul Langrick from Easingwold clinched the novice hack with Party Spirit.
David Bartram from South Otterington won the working hunter championship at the Northern Show, Wetherby and took his Wembley lightweight ticket riding June Warner's Beamish III, while Martin Surtees from Neasham took the heavyweight ticket on Polar Region.
Jillian Robinson from Norton took the Wembley ticket in the small riding horse and also the tricolour with Loreley, while Paul Langrick took the large section on Dance Master.
Jerome Harforth from Great Ayton clinched the Breeders Challenge Supreme championship and Wembley ticket, besides reserve supreme in the Red Rose Masts Clothing qualifier, showing Pam Sowersby's part-bred Welsh champion Rotherwood Flamenco by Rotherwood Peter Pan out of Rotherwood Pirouette.
Emma Blundell from Felixkirk clinched her Wembley ticket in the 138cm show pony and was reserve champion on Rosslyn Spring Meeting, which was bred in Scotland by Margaret Runcie.
Jennifer Cowan from West Rounton took the Shearwater Working Hunter Qualifier in the 138cm section and was reserve champion on Northlight Solero, while the 122cm ticket went to Sarah Dover from Eston riding Lynsey Horsman's Balfern Nina.
Lucy Metcalfe took the Welsh B&C Section in the Olympia Ridden Mountain & Moorland with Douthwaite Bolero, while Pippa Porley from Castleton took the NPS/Ffrethi Intermediate Ridden Mountain & Moorland championship with Skellorn Picture Doll.
Irish rider Hayley Patterson, based at Jerome Harforth's, clinched the CHAPS coloured championship and Wembley ticket riding Copybush Chuckle. Kim Money from Ripon won the Palomino championship with her yearling Milford Fair Kestrel by her prolific winning stallion Milford Fanfare.
l The North of England summer show at Osbaldeston Hall, Blackburn, produced a good intermediate championship win for Sarah Emmerson from Stokesley with the nine-year-old Cooks Farewell. This was after she had taken the intermediate show hunter and the open show hunter pony.
The tricolour went to Rebecca Miller on Fielding Tom Sawyer, while Hannah Atkinson from Stokesley clinched the Pretty Polly lead rein qualifier riding the eight-year-old Smalland Fable. The reserve champion in this section was Loftus rider Robbie Haw and Ainthorpe Graceful Symphony, bred by Derek Champion from Castleton out of the 1987 Wembley champion Groundhills Amazing Grace.
Dave Bartram on Secret Find clinched his Wembley ticket in the 24-entry small riding horse and tricolour and was also reserve hunter with Beamish III. The latter also took the working hunter qualifier.
Caroline Darcy from Westerdale won the amateur owner riding horse with Macauley, while her father Ian took the cobs with Ballymakery Boy
