WEARABLE computers have been around for a few years now. Just ask anybody with a Timex Data-Link watch.
The Matsucom onHand goes even further than the Timex, which could only hold info downloaded from a PC, by being a fully featured organiser. It hooks up to a PC just like a Psion and even has its own dinky docking cradle to make the job easier.
You can swap contacts and appointments from Microsoft Outlook and the 2MB is unusually generous for such a small device.
There are problems, however, most of them associated with the small form factor. Entering info is a bind and the tiny screen makes it hard to see when you do get it into the watch.
Still, at £200 it's a lot cheaper than a Psion or a Windows Palm PC - even if it isn't as functional as either.

A new notebook privacy filter from 3M solves the conflict of privacy and convenience perfectly for busy people computing on the move. Good looking, it is extremely slim and lightweight - and practical. For the first time you can close your notebook down without having to remove the filter and store it away separately.
As computer technology becomes increasingly mobile, it is not just trains and planes, but restaurants and bars, waiting rooms - even park benches - that are commonly being used as 'offices'. Glancing at your neighbour's notebook screen is extremely tempting - almost compulsive - and budget forecasts, financial statements, business strategies and marketing plans make fascinating reading to prying eyes.
The 3M Notebook Privacy Filter uses patented microlouvre technology, which works like venetian blinds to block the computer screen to anyone viewing from the side. Reducing glare, the screen is crisp, clear and bright when viewed by the user sitting directly in front of the screen. Viewed from the side the screen appears dark and blank, as if it is turned off.
Tile filter attaches easily with small plastic tabs and fits snugly inside the bezel of the screen. It stays in place when the notebook is closed. And should you need to share information or present to a small group, the privacy filter is easily removed.
The new 3M Notebook Privacy Filter comes in three sizes - 12.1" 13.3" and 14.1" - to fit most notebook screens.
Even before it was launched, this filter received top honours by being named Best Product Accessory of the Year in the Best of Retail Vision Awards in the United States.
So next time you are working with sensitive information whilecomputing on the move, make sure it remains for your eyes only.
The 3M Notebook Privacy filter is available from computer and office products' suppliers. For stockist details contact 3M Stationery & Office Supplies on (01344) 858426.
