SHOPPERS picked up more than their groceries at a Darlington supermarket recently.
Asda's Whinfield store teamed up with Darlington Borough councillors from the town's Haughton wards to offer surgeries.
The first surgery took place on Saturday, with representatives from both Haughton West and East wards - including from left, above, Councillors Dave Lyonette, Nick Wallis and Veronica Copeland - on hand to listen to the problems of their electors.
The aim is to make the surgeries more accessible for local residents who may wish to speak to councillors about various concerns, but do not have the time.
More surgeries are planned at the same site on the first Saturday of each month up to and including November
