AN EAST Durham organisation responsible for the health of more than 100,000 people has opened its doors to the public.
Since it was formed last year, Easington Primary Care Group (PCG) has been working to develop a better understanding of local health needs.
At an open day, it unveiled its many achievements during its first 12 months.
Easington PCG was set up to assess health and social needs and provide relevant services where possible.
Special guest at the open day was Easington MP John Cummings, who congratulated all those involved.
He told the gathering: "I have been highly impressed with the work the PCG has carried out in its first year.
"It has made immense strides in relation to primary care in the area and it has been extremely successful in gaining extra funding."
The event also included the opening of the group's new boardroom, which has been named The Aidan Ord Room, in commemoration of a valued member who died last year.
Chief executive Dr Roger Bolas said: "Aidan Ord was the first social services representative on the PCG board.
"Through his work in helping to set up the group he played a crucial role in establishing the PCG's commitment to partnership working in Easington."
Presentations highlighting the group's achievements were given through the day.
