A COUNTY Durham youngster was the only rider from the North of England to take a trophy in the recent national finals of the BHS equitation competition.
Cassandra Milburn from Low Willington, Crook, a pupil at the Low Fold riding centre, was second in the 13 years and under riding schools class.
She is pictured receiving her trophies from Mrs Caddy Dalton of the Elise Pilkington Trust, the competition sponsors.
Training vouchers valued at £4,000 were awarded to the 21 winners who came from all over the UK. The instructor of the winner in each class was awarded a trophy and a trip abroad.
Judge Islay Auty said: "The under 13s riding school entrants had some young children who showed a lot of determination and promise. The turnout was stunning and everyone involved has to be congratulated."
Urging more riding schools to get involved, she added: "They would benefit so much and would find it really enjoyable - it is such fun.
