THE first Fijian soldier to join the Green Howards in its 312-year history has just completed his training at Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire.
Private Lagani Koroibean-uve, 19, will now join the regiment's 1st battalion at Warminster, Wiltshire, in September.
He was recruited for the Army by a team that visited Fiji earlier this year and recently finished his training at Catterick.
He said: "I particularly wanted to join the infantry and I really loved the training."
He is now looking forward to joining the 1st battalion in Warminster, which forms the land warfare battle group, assisting in trials of future infantry equipment and weapons and providing an enemy in battle simulations undertaken by all the forces during training on Salisbury Plain
