WALKERS are being offered the chance to see the changing face of East Durham tonight.
Simon Nott, community liaison officer for the Turning The Tide project which is regenerating the area's coastline, will be the guide on the three-and-a-half mile walk.
Starting from the Foxholes Dene car park, east of Easington Colliery, at 6.30pm, it will take in Beacon Hill - the highest point on the Durham coast - Easington Bay, and part of the Turning The Tide reclamation scheme.
A Turning The Tide spokesman said: "Walkers will also be able to view the exterior of the recently renovated 18th Century barn at Beacon House Farm, which is being restored to its former glory by the National Trust in partnership with Turning The Tide.
"The walk, which is roughly three-and-a-half miles, should take no more than two hours to complete, and will be stewarded along the way."
Details of the walk, and others organised for the Turning The Tide area, are contained in a leaflet which is free. It can be obtained from local libraries, Tourist Information Centres, or from the environment department on 0191-383 4144
