A Teesside Health Trust is looking for an artist to work with people in East Cleveland to help improve their health.
To help mark the Year of the Artist, Tees and North East Yorkshire NHS Trust has been awarded a £9,000 grant from Northern Arts to employ a part-time artist in residence, who will use the art project to find out what the people of Brotton, Skelton and Loftus think about local health services.
The artist will spend a year working two days a week at East Cleveland Hospital in Brotton, working with patients, visitors and staff as well as going out into the villages to work with residents.
Margaret Baily, locality manager and coordinator of the scheme, said: "We have been involved in many art projects over the years.
"In fact, artwork was actually designed into the structure of East Cleveland Hospital when it was built more than six years ago. But this will be our most ambitious project to date, and the first of its kind for a health organisation on Teesside."
The Trust is working with Cleveland Arts to look for artists interested in the project. Contact Margaret Baily on (01287) 284000.
