Woodham
The final pair into the club house proved to be the winners of the club's Ladies Open tournament.
There were 176 entries for this popular tournament which had to be suspended for an hour due to torrential rain, but this failed to mar an enjoyable day.
The winners were Andrea Dobson and Emma Matthews of Chester-le-Street with 42 points, pipping Tracy Halin and Janice Blakey of Sedgefield Knotty Hill with 41 points into second place. In third place were Barbara Robinson and Doris Crawford of Woodham with 39 points and two other pairs from Woodham, Sue Morrow and Margaret Russell (39 points) and Chris Quinn and Norma Thompson (39 points) took fourth and fifth places. Thirteen couples won balls in the twos sweep, with one couple notching two wins.

The club held its first pro-am with 24 of the North's leading professionals taking part joined by members and companies who entered teams. Excellent weather conditions greeted the teams and this was reflected in the scores.

Romanby's club captain Franco Tolu and Roger Butler Tournament controller, presented the prizes to the professionals and winning teams.
Romanby Ladies club championship, sponsored by Julie and Gladys Craven, was played over two days in very different weather conditions. Saturday saw the ladies play in sunshine and extremely heavy showers but Sunday's play took place under a beautiful blue sky.
