Iveston and Satley MC
The country's 30 top sidecar crews together with 40 of the best four stroke riders and 40 top class Under-21 Motor Cross riders gather be at Witton Castle, Witton-le-Wear, Bishop Auckland, on Sunday when the Iveston and Satley club host a round of the 2000 British Moto Cross Championship.
Top of the sidecar entries will be defending champions Chris Etheride/John Chambers, along with Stuart Brown/Luke Peters and Colin Philpott/Ian Beavis. Local interest will focus on two crews - Jim Mogey/Elliott Paliser and Paul Barnfather/Andy Sheppard, four of the greatest characters in the sport.
Top four stroke riders are David Campbell, John Barfoot, Phil Mercer, Danny Smyth and Greg Hanson.
Local businessman, and veteran rider, Jimmy Aird of the famous Scott Leathers Company in Barnard Castle will also be riding.
The Under-21 series entries included Glen Phillips, Tom Church, Rikky Higgs, Matt Gardiner and Gary Taylor.
* 12 races in all
* Practice at 10am, presentation of top riders at 12 noon, first race 12.30 pm
* Admission £5 adults - OAPs and children £1, including bumper programme.
