Middleton St George celebrated at Feethams on Wednesday night when they defeated Aldbrough St John by 38 runs in the final of the Eggleston Cup.
Batting first, Middleton made an impressive 119 for the loss of six wickets in 18 overs.
The scene was set for their formidable total when openers Simon Rogers and brother Stephen added 89 before they were parted.
Simon top-scored in the innings, striking four boundaries in 48 and Stephen was not far behind, his 44 including four fours. Wilson, with 2-52, bowled unchanged in the Aldbrough St John attack and sent down nine overs.
Replying, Aldbrough struggled for runs from the start and stuttered to 81-7 from their 18 overs as Gary Jemmeson claimed three wickets for 38 runs in nine overs while Paul Robson, introduced as first-change into the Middleton St George attack, took three wickets for a meagre 12 runs in an economical four-overs spell.
l To mark Norman Sturman's retirement at the end of the season, Haughton Old Boys will play NatWest Darlington and District Old Boys at Haughton cricket club on unday afternoon.
