A MURAL created by members of a mental health day unit has been unveiled at a leisure centre.
The colourful ceramic tile mural, measuring 16ft by 2ft has been installed at the Belle Vue Leisure Centre in Consett.
The art masterpiece was designed and produced at Bede House, the day unit at Shotley Bridge Hospital.
The six main group members were led by ceramic artist Jane Dodds and nine other contributors.
Jane said: "The group said that among the benefits were being involved in creating something lasting for the community.
"This gave the project a challenge and purpose, along with socialising, sharing interests and learning and exchanging skills.
"The mural shows a timeline through the seasons and a lifetime and features picture tiles of things to see and do throughout the year. It is surrounded by a border of words which adds to the theme."
The project was supported by Mind, the mental health charity, Derwentside District Council, and the NHS.
A spokesman for the leisure centre said: "We are thrilled to be the recipients of an inspiring and educational artwork."
More than 165,000 people a year use the centre.
