A FLOWER show that has continued to blossom in recent years enjoyed its biggest-ever entry this weekend.
The Northallerton and District Horticultural Society's annual show attracted about 500 entries from North Yorkshire, and this year the entries were some of the best ever.
Green-fingered local growers battled it out in 20 different categories, ranging from best vegetable to most impressive floral display.
The show, which was held in Northallerton Town Hall, has been running for over 50 years.
Kenneth Hird, president of the society, and who won the best tomato section, said the quality of the entries was very high, which also made it very competitive.
He said: "It's been a wonderful show and there have been some superb displays from some very talented people.
"People from across the North Yorkshire have attended, and the judges, who come from outside the region, have been mightily impressed."
And organisers are hoping for an even better turn out next year. Mr Hird added: "This year has been unbelievable, but hopefully we can attract our target of 700 entries which would really be very special."
