NEW traffic lights to ease rush-hour congestion in Teesside will be switched on this afternoon.
The lights are designed to cut queuing on the approaches to the Greystone roundabout at Wilton, at the junction of the A174 and A1053. They will operate at peak times, from Monday to Friday.
Graham Littlechild, project manager for the Highways Agency said: "The signals will significantly improve congestion on the approaches to the roundabout, particularly the A174 east and west-bound approaches at peak periods.
"Motorists should be aware that the newly-constructed left turning lane on the A174 westbound approach will not be available to traffic at this stage.
"We believe these lights will have a road safety benefit to drivers, reducing frustration and cutting journey times."
