THE summer holidays will end early for a group of bright Chester-le-Street youngsters next week.
While their friends continue to enjoy the holiday, 33 children, some from feeder primary schools, will take part in the latest of a series of summer schools for talented pupils.
It will be held at Park View Community School from Monday, to Friday, September 1, and concentrate on maths and information technology.
The two subjects will be combined when the pupils design a mathematics website for the school.
Teacher Goody Panesar said: "It will be from the pupils' perspective.
"They will be involved in work on digital cameras, power point prints and video conferencing.''
At the start of the school holidays a summer school held at Easington Community School focused on improving pupils' self-confidence through visits and sports.
In all, 150 youngsters deemed to be "very able'' have taken part in summer schools throughout the county.
