AN ENVIRONMENTAL partnership project to regenerate a Guisborough beck is £500 richer thanks to the local town council.
The Chapel Beck Partnership Project is the brainchild of Bill Peacock, of the local Rotary Club, and aims to make huge environmental improvements to an overgrown beck.
The beck has the potential to be a beauty spot, but at the moment is a health hazard and a home to rats.
In the past, people on probation, and local Scout groups have cleared the beck, but the time has come for a more drastic approach.
Mr Peacock's scheme has the backing of many residents, the town council, Guisborough Town Pride and Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
It involves a massive overhaul for the beck and creating a path, connecting Guisborough to Hutton and the cost is thought to be around £50,000.
The council contribution matched a donation made earlier by Guisborough Town Pride.
