HOMES for asylum seekers from the Czech Republic and Afghanistan are being prepared by a North-East council.
Newcastle City Council is to provide 660 properties for asylum seekers during the next year as part of a contract with the Home Office.
Council officers have attended meetings with residents most likely to be affected.
Refugees will be housed in areas including North Fenham, Byker and Walker.
