REGIONAL development agency One NorthEast is spearheading a region-wide initiative to exploit business and supply chain opportunities for the Athens Olympics in 2004.
A regional partnership including Gateshead Council, the North East Chamber of Commerce, the Environmental Industries Federation and Business Links, will launch the North-East England "North-East businesses are well equipped to supply major international events such as the Olympics, as long as they are given the opportunity to showcase their skills and services to the appropriate contacts.
"There is a long lead time required for sporting occasions such as this, which is precisely why we are looking now at how we can take advantage of business opportunities arising in the build up to the 2004 games."
Any business wishing to attend the 'Infralympics' Exhibition in Athens or the regional briefing seminar in September should contact Howard Johnson on (0191) 269 9940
