A BLOCK of 11 flats could be built in Darlington town centre if developers gain approval for the scheme.
The project in Clark's Yard, between Skinnergate and High Row, makes use of temporary car parking space where buildings have stood in the past.
A planning application has been submitted to Darlington Borough Council by Cumbrian architects the Green Design Group, on behalf of Howard Developments, in Victoria Road, Darlington.
David Andrew, a partner at the Green Design Group, said: "Most of the development is two-storey and there is a little bit of it which goes up to three storeys."
The plans also involve an archway, which would provide access to the back of an existing building.
Members of Darlington Borough Council's planning committee will not discuss the plans until September, a council spokesman said yesterday.
