DISABLED actors from north Durham have returned triumphant after taking the Edinburgh Festival by storm.
Members of Derwentside theatre group Snug (Special Needs Utility Group), which has disabled and non-disabled actors, received acclaim for their eight performances at the festival.
The group performed a murder mystery musical called Murder and Marmalade, written by group member John Hails, during what was their second time at the festival.
About one hundred people attended each of the group's shows and members also played to a 200,000 crowd during the festival cavalcade of acts.
The group got a three-star review in The Scotsman newspaper and Scottish TV company Grampian recorded members at work as part of a TV programme to be broadcast in the coming weeks.
"It was a great experience and good fun," said a spokesman. "It was beyond our wildest dreams to get a reaction like that and it's given us confidence to take on our next production, which will be called Merlin.
